Odyssey Boat Summary
Material List
- Why is this material the best choice compared to others? Cedar wood is the best choice because it has been used for many years due to its abundance and natural buoyancy. Metal would have been very heavy and is more dense than water, and was also not used to make hulls until the 19th century.
- Why did you design the hull the way you did? We designed our hull to be a V-Hull because of it’s comfort and storage space. We believe that comfort and storage would please the Gods.
- Why did you design the sails the way you did? We designed our sail that way because it will help catch the wind and carry us in the direction we need to go to get to Ithaca. We also believe that it is the right design that will please the gods.
- How well did your boat design do? The design was very stable in the baby pool and did not bounce a lot. However, both of the stabilizers got stuck on the baby pool edge and other obstacles.
- What would/could you improve on? We would make the stabilizers a bit more aquadynamic instead of flat nosed and make the hull and mast have less height since they a both very tall and without the stabilizers, make the boat unstable.
